Original Czech Music

From Mom & Dad's phonograph record collection

Recorded from the original 78 RPM records and converted to RealAudio

Here they are as they sound today, and probably as they sounded on the old hand wound Victrolas back in the old days. These records were bought sometimes during 1909-1930. I do not have the dates for all of them, but where I do, I'll let you know. They each were played many, many times on all sorts of record players. The one I remember the best is the hand cranked, acoustic phonograph that we had on the farm back in the 1938-1943 time period. Of course, we had no electricity back then.

You may wonder how these records survived that long. Well, they all didn't. Several were broken and discarded through the years. The few that I have left are in poor condition, with cracks, chunks broken out, scratches and spots of "goo" on them. I salvaged as much music off them as possible. You'll be able to tell that these records have not been digitally enhanced!

If you're looking to hear what some of the old Czech songs sounded like in their original format, them just give a listen. They are in RealAudio and formatted for 28.8 modems or better. Enjoy!
